TOMORROW will be a crucial day in the life of Canadian-born gymnast Marisa Dick as she will find out whether or not her place on the Trinidad and Tobago’s team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil will be confirmed by the TT Olympic Committee (TTOC).

Germany, The Netherlands, France and Ukraine secured their places in the men’s artistic gymnastics team competition at Rio 2016 on the opening day of the Olympic test event today.

Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) — the state agency which provides funding to the Trinidad and Tobago Gymnastics Federation (TTGF) — has issued a May 3 deadline to the local gymnastics fraternity requesting a comprehensive and detailed report on TT’s participation at the Aquece Final Gymnastics Qualifier (Rio Test Event) which jumped off in Brazil last weekend.

It’s being called “an emergency decision due to injury,” – something refuted by her coach - but, for the bymoment, as far as the Trinidad and Tobago Gymnastics Federation (TTGF) is concerned Thema Williams’ participation in the Aquece Rio Final Gymnastics Qualifier in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is off.

President of the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC), Brian Lewis, stated the TTOC’s role in the selection of athletes for this year’s Olympic Games in Brazil.
