Thinking Sport Symposium
"Creating a whole new world of Sport" will be the theme of the eighth Thinking Sport series, hosted by The Sports Desk.
The series starts today at the Offices of the T&T Guardian from 9 am.
The event has targeted several sports leaders and students from several schools throughout the country. Deryck Murray, president of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) will lead off the days proceedings with a presentation entitled "Education and Sport" "the right mix", he will be followed by secretary general of the T&T Olympic Committee, Brian Lewis, whose presentation will put the Olympic spirit in focus when he discusses "The Making of an Olympic athlete, an administrator's perspective." While today's third session will be facilitated by Don La Foucade, director of the La Foucade Soccer Clinic. La Foucade, who recently launched his motivational book "In full flight" will speak on "Success and Failure."
La Foucade served as assistant co-ordinator of the Ato Boldon Stadium for the World Under-17 Football Championships in 2001 and coordinates the annual RBTT Inter Col football competition. The symposium is the second leg of an annual two-part presentation which is facilitated by The Sports Desk.
Earlier this year the organisation hosted 'Rebuilding West Indies Glory" which attracted several regional and local sportswriters and discussed the issues surrounding the current state of West Indies cricket. The symposium continues on August 9 and 16 and among the other facilitators are Fifa vice-president Jack Warner, national sportsmen Dwayne Bravo, Denzil Theobald, Marc Honore, former national sportsmen Anthony Gray, Michael Phillips and Alvin Corneal and businessman/sports agent Tim Nafziger. Among the sponsors for this year's event are: AS Bryden, Atlantic LNG, BGTT, Concacaf, Clico, NLCB, RBTT, Republic Bank, Toyota, TSTT Foundation.
